AMT Mission Statement

We provide students with a rich education through the lens of the healthcare professions. We fulfill the need for quality clinicians, nurses, and doctors. Students gain the skills necessary to become members of a healthcare team. We stress a hands-on approach to the sciences and STEM education. Our Medical Scholars program is in partnership with Plaza College where students receive free college credits. Additionally, our clinical internship program through St. John’s Hospital provides real-world career experiences for students in a healthcare setting. Here at AMT, we help all students learn, grow, and become our future.

Announcements

  • Spring Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent/Teacher conferences (PTC) are approaching.  Conferences with your child’s teachers provides a great opportunity to receive additional information on your child’s progress for the year.  It is also a great way to establish connections with the teachers and address any concerns you may have.

PTCs are scheduled for Thursday, 3/23/23 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Friday, 3/24/23 from 11:50 am to 1:50 pm.  All meetings are virtual and will be conducted through the Zoom  video conferencing platform. In order to make a conference with your child’s teacher please go to the PTC Online Scheduler link and follow the attached directions.  The online scheduler will open on Wednesday, March 15th.

If you are unable to attend conferences during the scheduled times, please contact your child’s teacher to set up another time to meet. Teacher emails are found in the staff directory

Due to the limited appointments available, there will be strict adherence to the PTC schedule.  If you need time beyond your conference, please make arrangements to speak to the teacher(s) at a later date.

If you need any assistance with the online scheduler please contact Assistant Principal, Kenneth Chojnacki (kchojnacki@schools.nyc.gov)

  • NYCDOE Device Inventory

The New York City Department of Education is performing a comprehensive inventory of all devices loaned to students. To achieve this, we’re asking for all NYCDOE loaned devices to be brought to school between 1/27/2023 and 1/3123, to perform a device inventory.

Make sure that your child brings their DOE device with them to school on 1/27/2023. They do not need to bring accessories (for example, the power cord or keyboard). The device should be brought to school regardless of condition. The DOE will look into replacing it under warranty.

The devices will be verified they are in good functioning condition and returned to the student to be brought back home for continued learning.

A DOE vendor will scan the barcode on the device and return it to your child. This should only take a few seconds and the device will be returned to your child the same day. The device will have a sticker on it, indicating it has been scanned. Please do not remove this sticker. If you have any questions or concerns, please work with our school’s technician, Marlon Edmond, MEdmond5@schools.nyc.gov

  • New Cell Phone Procedures

Starting on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 AMT will be making our school a phone and electronic-free space to improve teaching and learning using a system called Yondr.  Yondr has been implemented in over 1,000 schools across 21 countries to facilitate an engaged learning environment.

We believe that phones have great utility. We have also found that learning and social behavior improve drastically when students are fully engaged with their teachers and classmates.

The Yondr Program utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone. Every student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. Students will maintain possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. Students are required to bring their Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times.

Yondr recently surveyed over 900 school partners to measure the effects of creating phone-free educational environments. These schools achieved notable progress in multiple areas:

    • 65% of schools saw an improvement in academic performance
    • 74% of schools saw an improvement in student behavior
    • 83% of schools saw an improvement in student engagement in the classroom

If there is an emergency and you would like to get in contact with your child, please reach out to our main office at 718-471-3571.

In an effort to best serve your child, we appreciate your full support in adoption of the Yondr Program at our school.

Detailed information can be found on the document below which reviews the procedures, student responsibilities, and measures taken by the school if the cell phone procedures are not followed.

  • New York City Schools Account (NYCSA)

The NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is an app that lets you see your student’s grades, attendance, fitness results, schedule, and more from anywhere and in all DOE languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.

During this period of remote learning, The NYC Schools Account will be the primary source for your child’s report cards and school schedules.  If you haven’t already registered, please follow the link to register your account.

    NYC Schools Account (NYCSA)

You will need a specific code to register your NYC Schools Account.  Codes were sent out via mail during the last school year.  If you do not have the code you may contact our parent coordinator, Kim Perez (kperez11@schools.nyc.gov) to get your code to register your account.

If you have already registered, even at another NYCDOE school, you do not have to register again.
